This story is written by Celine Röder, CDTM Class of Spring 2022 ***

Thinking back about applying at the CDTM and what has happened since then can be best described as a whirlwind experience.

When I first heard about CDTM, I was hesitant to apply. After all, my background in medicine seemed far removed from the world of digital technology and management. However, once I understood the importance of technological innovation in the healthcare sector, I soon realized that this was precisely the reason why I should apply.

To my surprise, I found that many of my classmates also came from diverse backgrounds, including psychology, physics, political science, or architecture. While this may seem like a disadvantage, I believe that it actually provides a unique advantage and opportunity.

Let me explain why:

When you choose to dive into new and unfamiliar content, you open yourself up to a world of learning and development that would otherwise be unavailable. The learning curve is steep, and so is the potential for growth. As someone who has experienced this firsthand, I can attest that it can be intimidating to be thrown into a world of unfamiliar terminology and concepts. What's a VC, an "Angel," or a CRM? These were just a few of the terms that left me scratching my head in confusion. However, with the help of great lecturers, my peers, and a curiosity to learn, I was able to quickly catch up. This accelerated my personal learning journey and has given me the confidence to take on new challenges without fear. So, don't shy away from new and unfamiliar content. Embrace it as an opportunity for growth and development, and you'll be surprised at how quickly you can level up your skills and knowledge.

This learning curve is even more accelerated by what I appreciate most about CDTM: the emphasis on practical learning. You don’t have to study anything by heart, but instead, start thinking creatively and developing innovative solutions to complex problems. By working together with industry partners, we apply our knowledge to real-world problems while also acquiring skills in project management, teamwork, and entrepreneurship.

Lastly, diversity is an accelerator for solving problems since different opinions challenge us to think critically and creatively about solutions. It's inspiring to be part of a community where everyone brings a unique perspective and set of skills to the table.

In conclusion, while applying to and attending the CDTM may have initially seemed daunting, I'm more than grateful for the journey. By being exposed to new concepts and ideas, and by focusing on practical learning, I've been able to accelerate my personal growth and development. If you're considering applying to CDTM, regardless of your background, I encourage you to take the leap and see where this incredible program can take you.
